Today, I hitchhike to Mazatlán with my French friend for the last time as I say goodbye to her. But I meet another french girl and new friends at Mazatlán! The route was from Culiacán, Sinaloa -> Mazatlán, Sinaloa. Simple and straightforward.
So this is the last time I'm hitchhiking with a partner, and it went smoothly mainly because she did all the work haha. She's definitely a go-getter. I think my style is more inclined to being more passive since I wait for the right person to pick me up. She reminded me a lot of my Finnish friend who was very methodical with her approach and more aggressive than usual. But it worked for them!
So we got a ride with in a worker's van, and we thought they were driving us half-way to our destination, but they ended up giving us a lift all the way to our destination, Mazatlán!
Upon entering the city, I parted ways with my French friend and said goodbye. After a few minutes, I took a bus to the town center and went to a café where I ended up making two new friends: a local Mexican and another girl from, you guessed it, France lol. We ended up spending the entire weekend together exploring and attending the famous Mazatlán carnival.
It was really exciting for me to see tourists in the city for the first time in four months. As expected, no tourists dared to travel the north of Mexico haha.
So that's how the last hitchhike went, it was really basic. Nothing too exciting, but I guess that's just how it is sometimes. If everything was always wild and crazy, it wouldn't stand out as wild and crazy.
It would be... just average.
